Paramount Plus Drops New Trailers of Star Trek: Picard and Discovery

Paramount took the opportunity to celebrate First Contact Day by dropping new trailers for Star Trek: Picard and Star Trek: Discovery.

Paramount Plus celebrated the pseudo-holiday for Star Trek fans called “First Contact Day” this week. It is when, in the Star Trek universe, mankind made first contact with the Vulcans. It also marks the 25th anniversary of the release of the TNG feature film Star Trek: First Contact.

Paramount took the opportunity of the important day this week to drop a couple of new trailers that Star Trek fans have been waiting for. In particular, a new (but brief) trailer for the upcoming season 2 of Star Trek: Picard. It features a prominent and mischievous character from back in the day reprising his role. That’s right! John de Lancie is coming back as “Q.”

Paramount also dropped a new trailer for Season 4 of Star Trek: Discovery. If you have been following that show at all you know the ship is now 950-odd years into the future. Following the departure of Captain Saru for his homeworld in season 3, the show’s main character Michael Burnham, played by Sonequa Martin-Green, returned to the captain’s chair.

The Discovery trailer is a bit longer and gives you a better look at what will happen in the show. The Star Trek: Picard trailer is just enough of a tease to get fans excited for the new season.
