How to Fix Windows Taskbar Showing in Fullscreen

Having the Windows taskbar pop-up while you’re using fullscreen apps is annoying. If that happens, fix the problem on Windows 11 with this guide.

Windows should automatically hide the taskbar when running apps in fullscreen mode. If the taskbar shows while running a game, browser, or movie in fullscreen mode, it’s a big distraction. The taskbar is essential for navigating through the Windows experience, but it can get it the way.

A time may come when the taskbar continues showing in fullscreen when you don’t want it. If that happens, you’ll want to get it out of the way. This guide will show you several ways to fix the Windows taskbar showing in fullscreen mode.

How to Restart Windows Explorer

If your taskbar won’t hide in fullscreen, you can reset taskbar settings to fix it. This means restarting Windows Explorer from Task Manager. To restart Explorer, use the following steps.

How to Repair Apps on Windows 11

If you notice the taskbar showing in fullscreen mode when running a particular app, it could cause the issue. The app repair feature will look for corrupt or missing files and replace them. To repair an app on Windows 11, use the following steps.

  7. Select the Adjust for best performance option to turn everything off and see if the taskbar is working. If it is, go back and check visual effects one at a time.

Check Windows Update

It’s important to keep Windows as up-to-date as possible for security, features, and stability reasons. Updates also include bug fixes that are causing taskbar problems.
