IE10 is Already On The Way, Platform Preview Now Available

image

If IE9 just isn’t cutting it for you, don’t worry –because Internet Explorer 10 is already on the construction line.  Last week Microsoft released the first Platform Preview for IE10 and it brings vast improvements in CSS and layout support.  While it isn’t much to look at just yet, the Platform Preview does give us a decent idea of what the IE developer team is focused on for the next version.

A few of the key support features noted by the IE10 dev team include:

  • CSS3 Multi-column Layout
  • CSS3 Grid Layout
  • CSS3 Flexible Box Layout
  • CSS3 Gradients
  • ES5 Strict Mode
  • CSS3 Transitions
  • CSS3 3D Transforms

For a preview of what it can do without actually dowloading the platform, check out the video below.  Or, you can download the Platform Preview and try it out for yourself.

The IE10 team has pledged to update the platform preview at least once every 8-12 weeks.  There isn’t an estimated date for IE10, but we’re hopeful that it will ship with Windows 8.

No, I thought it would but it just installed the “preview”; completely seperate from IE9. And -There was no search bar. and to go to websites with it I had to constantly press CTRL-L to bring up the search box.
