There are several new features in this major app update. Here is a look at the biggest changes.

  • All New Interface. Amazon says this new designed was inspired by books and aimed at book lovers. The new look and feel feature larger book covers, new light and dark backgrounds, a new app icon, and new fonts.
  • New Easy Search. The search bar is now always available throughout the app. Whether a book is in your library or in the Kindle Store, this will make it easier to find it.
  • One-tap Access. At the bottom of the screen is a new navigation bar that automatically displays the icon of the book you’re reading. It also allows you to switch between pages, your library, and more.
  • Goodreads iOS Integration. Goodreads is an Amazon subsidiary with 65 million members and is built in the new Kindle app. It allows you to interact with the Goodreads community of readers who like similar books. You can share notes and highlights of sections you’ve added to your books. Currently, this is only supported in the iOS version with Android support coming in a future release.

This new Kindle app comes at a time when the company is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Kindle. Right now, virtually everything Kindle is on sale. From the eReaders to Amazon’s Kindle services, right now is a good time to get a new device and stock up your eBook library.
