Set Google Clock Alarm to Wake Up to Your Favorite Spotify Song

Google this week added the ability to set the Google Clock alarm tone to your favorite song, artist, or playlist on Spotify.

Google recently announced that it has teamed up with Spotify and will allow you to set your Google alarm to wake up to your favorite song. This new feature is being added to the Google Clock app on your Android device. After connecting your Spotify account with the clock app, you will be able to set Spotify tracks as an alarm tone. It works for both free and premium accounts and here we’ll show you how to set it up.

Note: For this to work, your device needs to be running Android 5.0 Lollipop or above. Also, make sure you have the most recent version of both the Clock app and Spotify on your device.

Set a Spotify Track as Google Clock Alarm Tone

To get started, launch the Clock app on your phone or tablet and set an alarm. Choose the alarm time, day, whether to repeat it etc. But when it’s time to choose the alarm tone just tap the Alarm sound icon. You should get a notification that Spotify is available and will need to connect your free or premium Spotify account with the Clock app.

Next, you will see a new Spotify category that will display your recently played tunes as well as Spotify’s curated mixes. There are plenty to choose from like “Soulful Morning”, “Beast Mode”, or “Morning Motivation” just tap one to preview the included music. Or, you can search through Spotify to find your own favorite song, artist, or playlist.

Once you have your favorite music, make sure the alarm is turned on. When the alarm goes off, you will, of course, be woken to that music. You’ll have the same alarm controls you are used to like Snooze and Dismiss. And you will have the Spotify playback controls available via the Notification shade.

The best part of this new feature is that you don’t need to be a Premium Spotify subscriber – it works with free accounts, too. A lot of people prefer to wake up to their favorite song to start the day off right.
