Mozilla Firefox: Find and Recover Lost Bookmarks

Do you know Mozilla Firefox makes a backup of your bookmarks regularly without you knowing about it? If you accidentally lost your bookmarks and forgot to make a backup, here’s how to locate and recover them.
Find and Recover Lost Firefox Bookmarks
Before starting, change Folder Options, so your system shows Hidden Files and Folders. For full instructions, check out groovyPost’s article here.
Open Start Menu and click on your account name.
You’ll see a folder named Appdata in your profile folder. Double click to open it.
Navigate to Roaming >> Mozilla >> Firefox >> Profiles, and you will see the profile folder. It will be named something funky .default like this example.
Open your folder, and you will find a folder named BookmarkBackups.
Here you’ll find the current months backed up Firefox bookmark files.
If you want a faster way to get to that folder, click Start and type: run into the search box. Hit Enter.
Type: %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ and click Ok.
It will take you directly to the Firefox Profile folder.
Now that you know there are backups of your Mozilla bookmarks and their location import them into Firefox. Click the Firefox button and then Bookmarks.
Or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+B to open the Bookmarks Library. Click Import and Backup >> Restore.
Then select the most recent bookmarks backup or click Choose File to select an older backup file located in the directory shown above.
A confirmation window comes up. Click OK.
That’s it! Your Firefox bookmarks will be restored to the backup you select.

Not too long ago my hard-drive completely died. Just before it did I was able to save the AppData folder onto a portable USB drive. In that way I was able to recover all lost bookmarks as per your article for Firefox and also recover lost emails from Thunderbird.
The AppData folder is one nifty folder, because there you will find things that you might just need in case of a complete computer breakdown. So one of the first things I now do is to set a schedule using Karen’s Replicator (Microsoft SyncToy is another good backup tool) to save this folder for all my computers.

This is broken – just updated firefox – all my bookmarks were lost. tried to restore the bookmarks from the firfox backup and was met with the message UNABLE TO PROCESS THE BACKUP FILE. This backup file was created by the previous version of firefox v66.0.4. Also tried to restore other bookmark backups, in fact firefox has failed to import over 10 bookmark backups that were created by firefox. What is going wrong with firefox these days? I have just recovered from the firfox BUG that deleted all my addins and now I’m face with this.
