Apple iOS 5: Take Pictures or Video Without Unlocking Your Device

Apple’s latest mobile operating system, iOS 5, includes a new feature for quickly shooting photos and video. Some already call this the best feature of the entire iOS 5 update. Here’s a quick tip for how it works.

When your iPhone, iPod, or iPad is locked, double tap the home button.  The device’s screen turns on. Notice the camera button appears to the right of the unlock slider. Press the camera icon to open the camera.

Note: When the phone is locked you won’t be able to view saved or captured pictures. This prevents unauthorized access.
