Good news for a whole bunch of HTC Android smartphone users. Quite a few models are getting the highly anticipated Ice Cream Sandwich update. And this time it’s not gossip, as HTC itself has confirmed the news on its blog. It all starts with the HTC Sensation and Sensation XE.
The Sensation and Sensation XE will get this important update first. The company says it is in the early stages of rolling it out, so watch out for updates if you own one of these two devices.
HTC also said that the updates will be widely available in the next few weeks. No rollout plan has been announced yet, but it should be soon. The company has also informed its customers that it could take some time until operators start pushing the updates. Be patient, it’s coming!
HTC also says that it’s working closely with operators, and that details will follow soon.
Next are Sensation 4G and Sensation XL, followed by a whole range of other devices.
Here’s the complete list of devices getting it — still, no date yet for devices other than the four i I previously mentioned.

It’s about time HTC did this. The company has shown the first devices running Ice Cream Sandwich recently – I’m talking about One X, One XL, One V and One S, but none of their older smartphones had been upgraded to it.
And since we’re talking about Android, did you know Instagram is getting an Android version?

Shame on you! You insult my intelligence by saying the DHD doesn’t
have the required juice to run ICS. Your current flagship, the One X
has been released in February. It will get JB but it will probably not
get the next version of android which should be released after February
next year so after 2-3 months when it finally receives it’s update it
may well be regarded as an eol device.

“After extensive testing, we’ve determined that the current version of HTC Sense with Android provides customers with the best experience on the HTC Desire HD”. This is the biggest lie I have heard for a while. My pals DHD already runs on a custom rom with ICS HTC sense 4.0, and it runs way smoother than my beloved DHD running on stock 3.0 sense rom. Thanks HTC for leaving me with no option but to root my phone and loose my warranty, but I will take the risk and hope it can serve me until my contract expires in October and I will be able to get a new phone, I was already looking forward to getting me the one x in November, but plans changed now. This is definitely gonna be my last HTC phone. Sorry folks you just lost a once loyal customer due to your nonchalance and untrustworthy attitude.

A lot of people have complained online about this in the past few days. I think it’s a bit cruel to announce one thing, and then do the opposite…

Many people would avoid an HTC phone if the support ends up that bad. You can’t say that ICS will come to a phone and afterwards cancel it just like that <– this is not what a "stable" company do
and if they are not stable on the software side..I can't imagine how many decisions they make on the hardware part :P
