Late Spring Cleaning for Four Google Services

Google is doing some late spring cleaning by discontinuing a few of their unpopular services and websites.

Google Services on the Chopping BlockGoogle is constantly cleaning up and making changes to its free programs. As it goes with services that aren’t popular enough or don’t gain enough traction at Google, they are purged. This time around, four services in particular are getting axed.

On the chopping block are:

  • Google Apps for teams – Will be converted to personal Google accounts Sep. 4, 2012.
  • Google Listen – Replaced by Google Play and Google Reader subscriptions.
  • Google Video for Business – Shutdown and videos moved to Google Drive.
  • Multiple Google Blogspot Blogs – Google has 150+ product and service blogs, it decided to downsize the ones that aren’t updated frequently.

None of these services are going away immediately; sunset is schedule for this upcoming fall. If you use one of those services, hopefully this provides a groovy heads-up.
