WhatsApp voice messages are useful, but sometimes you need images, too. Learn how to send WhatsApp instant video messages in this guide.

WhatsApp voice messages are a great way to get across a lot of information without having to spend hours tapping away at your keyboard. Sometimes, however, you may need to demonstrate something visually, such as showing your grandmother how to take Zoom off mute.

Thankfully, WhatsApp now also offers instant video messages that let you record and send a short video clip directly from your WhatsApp chat. If you’re ready to take advantage of this useful feature, then here’s how to send WhatsApp instant video messages.

What are Instant Video Messages on WhatsApp?

You can already make video calls and record and send videos on WhatsApp, so what makes instant video messages any different? Well, a couple of differences make the feature a little more useful in some circumstances.

A key difference is that instant video messages are auto-played in the chat, with the sound muted. That means you’ll see the content of the video message in the chat without having to interact with it. Normal videos sent in a chat need to be clicked before they will play.

In addition, instant video messages aren’t saved in your camera roll unless you opt for them to be saved; they’re more like throwaway messages that you don’t want to keep. There’s also a limit of 60 seconds for instant video messages.

You can send an instant video message on WhatsApp quickly and easily using a similar method as you would use to send a voice note. If the feature doesn’t appear in WhatsApp, you’ll need to update to the latest version of the app.

To send a WhatsApp instant video message:

  1. Open the WhatsApp chat where you want the video message to appear.
