Live Essentials 2011 Drops Beta Status

Windows Live 2011 LaunchEarlier here on groovyPost we took a look at Windows Live Essentials 2011 Beta. This week Microsoft dropped the beta tag and the 2011 essentials pack is out and ready for downloading.  The first thing that I asked is “what’s new since the beta version?”

After downloading the new 2011 pack and taking a look around, not much has changed, at least not that we could tell up front.  But with that said, at least now if there are bugs and glitches I can feel entitled to complain since it is out of “beta.”  Also, according to the windows live team this version will be available in at least 48 languages world wide, so hopefully that helps out folks that didn’t have access to it before in their language.

No change can still be a good thing, Windows Live essentials remains 100% free.

With this version, I can no longer find a way to change the chat window background. There’s only a global theme you can set, but no background color overrides etc. Did I miss something (I never used the Beta version, so I upgraded from the latest official version).
