Microsoft Surface Tip: Copy and Paste Text

The ability to copy and paste text on your mobile device between apps is essential. If you’re a new owner of the Microsoft Surface tablet, you can copy and paste by touch or with the keyboard.

Copy and Paste on Microsoft Surface Via Touch or Keyboard

Tap and hold the first word of text you want to copy until you see a circle icon, then move your finger to highlight the text you want. Or if you’re using the keyboard, simply highlight the text as you normally would.

Select Text

Tap the highlighted text again or right click on the Trackpad and select the Copy box.

Now open the app you want to paste the text you just copied, in this case it’s Mail. In the message body, tap and hold or right click, and a tool bar appears, tap the Paste icon.

Paste Mail

Or if you were copying text from IE 10 and pasting it into Word, you’ll get the following menu bar via touch — tap Paste.

Word Paste

Or with the keyboard, you’ll get the menu you’re used to on a PC.
