groovyPost Groovy Giveaway: 5 Free Snagit Screen Capture Full Licenses

You know those t-shirts that old people wear that say, “Ask me about my grandkids“? Well, around here at the groovyPost offices, we wear shirts that say, “Ask me about my screen capture software.” Just kidding, actually—we don’t have an office, nor do we have those hypothetical, yet potentially awesome shirts. But we do love recommending TechSmith’s Snagit whenever one of our groovyReaders asks us, “Hey, how did you create those super groovy screenshots?” It’s hard to imagine getting that excited over a screen capture utility—that is until you’ve given Snagit a try.
If you haven’t yet, go grab the 30-day free trial of Snagit 10 for Windows right now. We guarantee that you’ll love it as much as we do. And while the full license is worth every single penny, we know that you’d love it even more if it were free.
That’s why we’re pumped to be able to give away five (5) full Snagit 10 licenses, courtesy of the fine folks at TechSmith.
How to Enter the Giveaway
We figured that a random drawing would be the fairest way to choose our winners for a free copy of Snagit 10. But we thought it’d be more fun if we made you work for it. So, we’re doing both.
To enter for your chance to win a free Snagit 10 license, complete one of the two methods below:
Note: If you don’t have a Facebook account, groovy! Just post a comment below help spread the word on your favorite social media site!
Method One – The Easy Way
“Like” us on our groovyPost Facebook Page:
Retweet this post and include the hashtag #groovyPost so we can find it.
or
Method Two – The Fun Way
“Like” us on our groovyPost Facebook Page
-AND-
Prove to us how badly you need a copy of Snagit. You can do this in whatever fashion you think will make the strongest case. Some ideas:
- Leave a comment below telling us how you would use Snagit to solve your unique screen capture needs.
- Attempt to take and annotate a screenshot with a program that is woefully inferior to Snagit and tweet it at us (hashtag #groovyPost, too) or post it in the comments.
- Show us the grooviest screen capture you can muster using the Snagit free trial.
- Capture a candid and/or humorous and/or embarrassing moment with Snagit and share it with us (Drunk Skype? Busted on a ninja edit? Freudian typo?)
We’ll be picking a First Prize Winner from Method Two and a Runner Up. Additionally, we’ll be drawing three random winners for Method One. All winners will receive a free Snagit 10 license key.
The contest starts immediately and ends Friday – 4/8. groovyReaders are eligible worldwide. Please only comment or retweet this contest once; duplicate entries will not increase your chances of winning.
You can download the free 30-day trial of Snagit here, and if you win all you have to do is activate it using the license key.

I try to tell people about Snagit, even when they don’t ask.
Them: “Dang, car insurance is so expensive these days! Isn’t there a way to save money on car insurance?
Me: “Well, no but…with Snagit 10, you can Batch Convert Images and save them in any format.”
Them: “What the hell is Snagit?”
Me: “It’s the best screen capture software for Windows or Mac, obviously…”
Them: “I’m talking about car insurance…”
Me: “Yeah, well I’m talking about the ability to copy and paste directly from Snagit into Windows Live Writer. It’s AWESOME.”
Them: “I don’t think we can be friends anymore.”
Me: “That’s okay. Snagit 10 now supports transparencies. Did you know?”
Them: “Goodbye.”

I tried to take a screenshot and this happened: http://i.imgur.com/iqYR6.jpg
I’m not sure what went wrong, but I definitely need a copy of Snagit if I’m going to make a 2nd attempt.

Wow, bummer — you might benefit from Snagit’s ability to set custom global hot keys for different capture profiles. Looks like you were having trouble finding the correct key combination to press to do a screen grab. Or, it looks like your program crashed…through the monitor…

Possessed keyboard virus. Seen it a dozens times.
You need to install an anti-virus program probably. Oh, I would also burn any demonic items you have in your home as well.

I’m in sales and Snagit would be perfect to assist with my Powerpoint presentations to important clients. Thanks.

My story is a common one. I need snagit to save my marriage. You see, I have 2 computers in my home but I only have 1 copy of snagit on my pc. My wife… well had I known things would get this bad I would have installed it on her computer instead of mine.
So please give me one of the licenses so I can install it on her pc and save my marriage. The jealousy would be gone and we would be a happy snagi couple!
groovinJackman
classic app envy. What do you and your wife do for a living? Sounds like a super groovy tech power couple.

You should know that hosting a contest where liking your page is part of the contest rules, is against the Facebook terms of service and is a valid ban reason.
gimli_the_dwarf
@CZ,
Better tell that to Techcrunch, this contest has almost the same format as most of their giveaways… [example]

OK cool, just thought I would give a little heads up because we had a case here in Norway the other day where a small shoe shop had a contest where the participants had to like their page, and they were thrown out of Facebook because of holding a contest this way.
MrGroove
Hi CZ – Thanks for the warning. I’m sure you had good intentions so I appreciate it. Wanting to make sure I had all the details regarding the “Facebook Rulez…” – Here’s what I found: http://www.facebook.com/promotions_guidelines.php
So I think were good!
CZ
all good, then =)

I still use Snag-It 8 and it does a wonderful job! v10 looks soo much better, but my budget is mostly on a fix it when it breaks and I must say that v8 still works just as good today, as when it came out. There has been 1-2 Windows upgrades and no issues or bugs. This contests to TechSmith’s quality of coding software! I sure would love v10 and be able to use all those new features!!

Hi,
Thanks for ur giveaway.
SnagIt is one of the most important application for my day-to-day use. I have used many freewares including MSpaint, etc- but none could beat SnagIt. I really want to win it to be able to use a genuine copy.

I like it. Because SnagIt is all in one. With it I can:
“Snag anything, on the fly. Use the profile to grab your newest Entire capture desktop, a region, a window, or a scrolling window-all with a single click or hotkey.”
And a very good point is that it can help me put the photos of my screenshots on the internet to share with everyone.

I use jing to create short videos from my desktop(I bought pro awhile back), and I also take screenshots(sometimes of my photography while i’m editing in photoshop or my desktop) by just using windows 7 built in snipping tool(and then import to photoshop to add txt, etc), but there’s not much I can do with it, I know snag it 10 would make annotating screenshots ALOT easier! Especially when i’m done in Jing and move straight to Snag It. Would be nice!
Here’s the video I created (which took me a while, lol)

Would love to win SnagIt license — I create training manuals for staff and doing screen shots the VERY old fashioned way (print screen) ’cause they won’t buy me software — help me please!!
Cheryl Middleton
Makes me giddy to think how cool it would be to capture just what I wanted on a screen and not have to print screen and crop. Recently did a 90 page training manual with multiple screen shots on each page — all had to be cropped & formatted. Scrolling capture?? makes me swoon.

Nice giveaway. I think i have a strong case on why i need this app badly. The reason will follow but first let me put my facebook profile id so that you can check that i have liked you facebook page.
Here is my profile id and its needless to say that i have liked your facebook page
http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000417277730
Now regarding my reasons while i need this app badly.
I generally use PrntScr button given on the keyboard to take screen shots. Mostly it serves the purpose but sometimes it doesn’t. While posting this article (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/performance/#addon-11) today in a forum i couldn’t take the screenshot of all the 50 add-ons since the prntscr button just takes the screenshot of the view area and not the whole web page. So i had to settle for whatever i can view http://i51.tinypic.com/hv8g8n.jpg and i had to redirect to the source page for the rest. So i need this app very badly to take screenshots of whole webpage.
If anybody is interested in seeing that article then here is the link of that article which i posted in the forum http://www.avinashtech.net/tutorials-tips-tricks/1868.htm
Thank you :)

Yes! That is one of my favorite features with Snagit–scrolling captures. Awesome!

I’m a Quality Assurance Analyst. There is not one day that goes by at work that I don’t use the software. It has helped me tremendously with identifying bugs and creating mockups. I would love a copy of this software on my home computer. It wouldn’t go to waste. I guarantee it!

Many thanks for this giveaway!
Why do I want a SnagIt 10 license when I encounter promotions for other screen capture apps all the time and simply pass them by?
Well, if these apps were girls…
“Check out my feature list, cutie…”
jelson
{the rest didn’t get posted:}
“For the next 3 days, you can activate me for free!”
“You don’t know what you’re missing and I’m always free.”
etc, etc, etc.
My reply would always be the same:
“Forget it about it, I’ve already got a supermodel at home even if [SnapIt v. 7] may be getting a bit old.”
Why bother with anything else?
