So now that you know how to add ringtones to your Android phone, it’s time to show you how-to choose a custom ringtone for each of your contact. This is one of the first things I setup with a new phone. It’s handy because if you leave your phone on your desk or a counter, by customizing the ring for a few contacts you know who’s calling even before you look at the phone. For instance, when my Mom calls I have a nuclear siren goes off. I automatically know I can let it goto voicemail without getting up! <just kidding mom….>
Go to your contacts, and search for the contact you want to edit.
Select the contact and press the option button.
Select edit and scroll down. Now select Ringtone. The phone will present you three options.
- Default Ringtone: When you choose this one, it will always choose the default ringtone on the phone.
- Sound: When Sound is selected, you have the option to find your own sound on your device.
- Phone Ringtone: With this option, you can select from the wide range of ringtones that come standard on your device from the factory.
Select Phone Ringtone and search the list till you find the title you are looking for. Press the ringtone, press save and you are done.
Now you can edit your complete list of contacts and give them all a different ringtone. Or you could even record your own voice and hook it up to your family contacts. Have fun with it!
