AT&T iPhone Service in Seattle is Dead Since 2PM PST
Oct 3rd, 2008 by MrGroove
I have no idea what’s going on with Apple but, I’m pretty sure all iPhone users (and possibly all AT&T Wireless Users) are down with no Mobile Service here in Seattle WA. I noticed the problem around 2pm PST. My 3G Apple iPhone shows full bars & 3G service but I cant make or receive any phone calls. I’ve checked with about 10 other ppl near me here at work and were all having the same problems……
Anyone else out there having problems?
I have to say, from the beginning the call quality on the 3G iPhone has been anything BUT spectacular. I’ve found myself telling people it’s the best / worst phone I’ve ever owned. Although the recent upgrades from Apple have been HUGE improvements in the area of dropped calls and battery life, I still find myself frustrated on a daily basis due to dropped calls and call/line quality as compared to my old Verizon Palm Smartphone (which I used for 2 years before I bought my iPhone).
Update – 10/3/08
- 4:30PM PST – Phone is bouncing between NO SERVICE and Full Bars. Still cannot make or receive calls.
- 5:15PM PST – Phone is still bouncing between NO SERVICE and Full BARS with E (edge) service. Still cant make or receive phone calls.
- 6:30PM PST – Still can’t make or receive calls. NO SERVICE and Full Bars are rotating randomly. Oh well, time to head for home.
- 7:00PM PST – After 15 miles (ish) away from work, the phone started working again. I’m guessing it must have been a bad Cell Tower (or 2) in the local vacinity to work..?
Anyone else out there have the same problems?

I’m in Ballard and my service is still out. You’re right about the towers. I called AT&T this afternoon and they confirmed it. I hope it’s up by tomorrow.

I live in Seattle area, and today, 1 year to the date of this post, my iPhone is down. No Service, but my other ATT phones. Been on the line with tech support for 40 mins now.
