Microsoft Store Offers Discounts for Windows 7 Pre-Order
Jun 29th, 2009 by MrGroove

If you think you might want to upgrade your Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows Vista computer to Windows 7 (release date set for October 22nd, 2009), you might want to take a look at a recent offer over in the Microsoft Store.
For a limited time only (6/26 – 7/11) you can Pre-Order the Upgrade for $49 for Windows 7 Home Premium or $99 for Windows 7 Professional. Unfortunately, there’s no love for the Windows 7 Ultimate Edition.
According to the site, you can perform a Clean install for Windows 2000 or Windows XP OR, if your Running Vista you can either do a Clean Install or In-Place-Upgrade. Personally… EVERYONE should do the clean install however some OEM PC’s from DELL and HP might want to do the Upgrade in order to preserve all the OEM software…
Here’s some of the text from the site which details the offer:
Windows 7 Pre-Order Promotional Pricing is a limited time offer good only on internet pre-orders of qualifying upgrade versions of Windows 7 (Home Premium Upgrade or Professional Upgrade) within the 50 US or DC. Offer good from June 26, 2009, until July 11, 2009, or while supplies last. Special pre-order promotional pricing is limited to three (3) copies per edition per customer. Offer does not apply to previous purchases, and is non-transferable and not redeemable for cash. A credit card is required at time of pre-order, but will not be charged until the item is shipped or available for download. Taxes, and shipping and handling charges may apply.
If you can’t decide between the 2 versions (Premium Vs. Pro) here’s a breakdown between the 3 versions which compares the difference between the various Windows 7 Versions:
And yes… EVERYONE should be upgrading to Windows 7.
