Microsoft Soapbox – Another one bites the dust!
Jul 21st, 2009 by MrGroove
Since the successful launch of Bing.com, Microsoft services appear to be dropping like flies! First there was Microsoft Money, then Microsoft announced they were killing off Popfly.com and now Soapbox is getting the Axe.
All in all, I think this is great news and I’m hoping it’s a sign of things to come from their senior leadership. They need to start LEADING the pack instead of chasing the pack into every little technology nook and cranny out there.
As an outsider, what I’ve seen over the past 2-3 years is Microsoft being so so preoccupied with getting their fingers into EVERYTHING, that they are losing their real focus and ability to innovate ANYTHING.
For example: Microsoft AutoCollage… Really? Did you really release this? Really? And now you want to charge money for it? Really?
Hopefully these recent cuts will be followed by many many more and Microsoft can once again focus on quality, not quantity.
